Yang Zhang is a co-founder of spring onion atelier and an architect based in Rotterdam. She completed her post-master's degree in Architecture and Urban Design from The Berlage in 2015. With 8 years at KAAN Architecten, she led public building projects in Europe, South America, and Asia.
Currently a project architect at UN Studio, Yang Zhang contributes to international state-of-the-art projects, infusing spaces with quality and a sensual touch. She also teaches in the Architecture Master program at TU Delft from 2017 to 2023, guiding students on research and design topics such as public space, mobility, Dutch building culture, sustainability, and the food system. Notably, she has participated in events like "FLOWCITY" at the Shenzhen Biennale, "Dutch Chang" in De Heuvel Rotterdam, and "IN City Shanghai" at TU Delft.
Chun Hoi Hui is co-founder of spring onion atelier and an urbanist based in Rotterdam. He completed his master's degree in Architecture at TU Delft and subsequently joined MVRDV and The Why Factory. During his time there, he actively participated in numerous research projects focused on developing sustainable urban and regional strategies. These projects addressed various aspects such as density, mobility, biodiversity, and resiliency, with notable examples including the Eindhoven City Center Supervision, Airbus Urban Mobility, and the carbon-neutral strategy for Luxembourg in Transition.
Through his professional experiences, he recognizes the importance of bridging top-down visions and bottom-up initiatives to create inclusive, resilient, and captivating city developments.
Jammy Zhu is a co-founder of spring onion atelier and an urban strategist based in Rotterdam. She holds an MSc in Urban Management from Erasmus University and a BSc in International Business Management. Prior to her current role, she worked as a project coordinator at the IKEA franchisor, where she facilitated the process of purchasing creative services.
Currently, Zhu serves as the Asia Studio Manager at MVRDV, where she brings her expertise in strategic insights and project management to ensure the successful execution of all projects across various phases. She has notably managed several high-profile events for MVRDV, including the Venice Biennale HK Pavilion in 2018, the design of the Shenzhen Design Museum exhibition, UABB 2019, as well as various architecture, masterplan, and interior projects.
