Spring onion Atelier is a Rotterdam based atelier, dedicated to connecting people and space via experience.
In the current period of time, the use and impression of space has been largely detached from its physical form. Meanwhile, the power of individuals has been largely enabled. When we are looking at public space, the importance of people’s experiences has overtaken the majesty of public institution, to a certain extend.
While the place-making events and public art have been shifting the way we define architecture, what would enable, educate and support people, are no longer only hard infrastructures. The role of architects and designers, to contribute in public infrastructure have been shifted from master builders, to master curators and coordinators.
Mission and Methodology
In this context, we intend to build collective engagement to public interests through program curation and spatial intervention. Our approach is to research, curate, design and organise for such soft and hard infrastructure, which generates cross-discipline dialogues, interactive and inspiring experience, social and spatial awareness.
